Meet Other Animal Lovers at These Pet-Friendly Spaces and Places in Broward County

Dog Parks and Beaches

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed in all Broward County Parks except Hollywood North Beach Park (beach side), Nature Centers and Natural Areas.

Dedicated Dog Parks

Barkham at Markham Dog Park (link to http://www.broward.org/Parks/MarkhamPark/Pages/Default.aspx) has 3.5 fenced-in acres where dogs can romp off-leash.

Bark Park at Snyder Park (link to http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/cityparks/dogs.htm) is free on weekdays; dog swimming facilities available.

Canine Beach (link to http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/cityparks/dogs.htm) requires an annual fee; dogs can swim in the ocean.

Dog Beach of Hollywood (link to http://www.dboh.org/) offers daily or 6-month passes.

Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park (link to http://www.coralsprings.org/sportsplexatcs.com/dogpark.htm) has separate areas for large and small dogs, agility training equipment and a paved running path.

Emerald Hills Lakes Park (link to http://www.hollywoodfl.org/parks_rec/northwest_parks.htm) has a dog play area.

Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups (link to http://www.tamarac.org/media/149483/gbj%20parkforpeopleandpups%20brochure.pdf) has areas for large and small dogs, drinking fountains and a dog washing area.

Happy Tails Park (link to http://www.plantation.org/Parks-Recreation/City-Parks/happy-tails-dog-park.html) has a leash free fun and run area, an agility course and an area for dogs under 25 pounds.

John Williams Park (link to http://www.hollywoodfl.org/parks_rec/northwest_parks.htm) has recently added a dedicated dog park area.

Oak Ridge Park (link to http://www.hollywoodfl.org/parks_rec/northwest_parks.htm) has a section where dogs can play off-leash.

Oakland Bark Park (link to http://oaklandparkfl.org/activities/parks/documents/ParksListingwithAmenities.pdf) has separate areas for large and small dogs as well as an agility course.

Poinciana Dog Park (link to http://www.hollywoodfl.org/parks_rec/southeast_parks.htm) has an area where dogs can run freely.

Pompano Dog Park (link to http://www.pompanodogpark.com/) has a “Canine Corner” with plenty of room for dogs to play.

Riverwalk Linear Park (link to http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/cityparks/dogs.htm) is free year-round.

Woodville Dog Park (link to http://www.nlauderdale.org/parks%20%26%20rec/parklocations2.html) is a three acre combined nature preserve and dog park.

Horse Parks

There are three parks in Broward County that have designated horse trails:

  • Lyons Tradewinds Park (954) 968-3880

  • Markham Park (954) 389-2000

  • Tree Tops Park (954) 370-3750

  • City Of Pompano Beach SANDSPUR PARK 4231 NE 15 AVE.
